What It Means To Be A Prayerbuddy Candidate
New members to Prayerbuddy begin as candidates who are invited to pray the Divine Office with us.
To initiate the process of becoming a Prayerbuddy candidate, please fill out our inquiry form .
A Prayerbuddy candidate joins us in praying the Divine Office.
The Divine Office -- which consists mostly of Psalms and readings from Sacred Scripture -- takes place six times daily, according to a schedule that looks something like this:
- 6:00 am Morning Praise (18 minutes)
- 8:30 am Mid-Morning Prayer (6 minutes)
- 11:00 am Mid-Day Prayer (6 minutes)
- 3:00 pm Mid-Afternoon Prayer (6 minutes)
- 6:00 pm Evening Prayer (15 minutes)
- 9:00 pm Night Prayer (12 minutes)
If a candidate finds that he or she has a calling to this prayer and perseveres in it, then we will ask him or her to participate in additional practices in community. This is a process of discernment and it can't be rushed.
We don't expect everyone to pray every hour -- we all live in the world and have obligations that take priority over liturgical prayer! -- but those called to this prayer will find God in the practice and will build their day around the sacred rhythm of the Psalmody.
